Get a confident start with oil painting! Learn about the materials, how to set up your painting area for the most satisfying results, and paint two small paintings.

This self paced workshop includes 8 hours of recordings from a live workshop I taught to a small group – so you’ll benefit from the student’s questions as well as my materials. And if you have other questions, you’ll have 6 weeks of email support!

  • Materials: What do you really need (besides the absolute essentials).
  • Getting a map-in onto canvas.
  • Brush Care.
  • Map-in (the beginning of a painting) paint-along.

Lesson 2

  • Studio safety.
  • How and when to thin paint.
  • More on getting started.
  • Landscape painting paint-along.

Lesson 3

  • Color mixing.
  • How and when to use painting mediums and varnish.
  • Still life painting paint-along.
